In 1995
the Federation decided to contribute to the lives of the underprivileged
children from Lakehaven Children Home’s and Zamani Home’s in Seacow Lake –
KwaZulu Natal. Within this group are children that are abused, orphaned or
abandoned.

As incentive for these children to take karate seriously, karate-gi are
either bought for them by the Federation or donated by parents from within
the Federation.

Selvan
Govender Sensei was appointed as senior instructor and was responsible for
the development of these children. He initiated the class, setting rules for
their development and appointment of other senseis and senior students to
assist.

Gradings are conducted twice a year by Selvan Govender Sensei, who monitors
their progress and advises the social worker in charge. The children are
given free membership of IFFSK South Africa and also free access to all
championships, special seminars and gradings.
